We are all looking for safety in one way or another.
From having gates fences even clothes
to savings accounts insurance policies
to spiritual teachers
to healers
to confidantes,
the unrequited need in us to feel relaxed and safe, is so much so.
We want to live our freedom with our hearts on sleeve, our spaces on tap for each other, surrounded with the boom bands marching on, totally unfettered unhindered and unhinged as we are and live in our magnificence. Ah that child like glee all over again when we dare to cross the road or take risks because we just know that our backs are covered, our caregivers mamas and papas will catch us if we fall.
So what happens when we get oh so grown up? Why all the need to keep vigil lest the thieves enter and steal away all of our wealth that we have worked so hard to earn and guard? Won’t we be covered too? What happened between that feeling of I can explore because mama is just there watching me by and even if she’s afar I know with one cry or shout she will appear in an instant and fix it all, and now?
As an explorer toddler whose back is always covered needs mostly met and fully secure you are likely to grow into an adult who is also secure and thrives assuming there are no other brain altering mind shifting events.
How do you sit in your home? Do you face the outside or the inside? Which side is your back?
What we are on the inside is reflected outside. Not literally or situationist but in essence of what the outside makes us feel. Is your home heavily secured? Alarm systems? Do you have lots of insurance policies? How do you live life? Guarded or free?
When was the last time you passed a stranger smiled and said hello even if you didn’t get a hello back? Are you calculative in how you act think and talk?
Investigate and then assimilate the places in your life and how you have somehow created a false sense of outward security that has created a veil of illusion of what lurks within – a very deep seated insecurity.
We can and will explore totally free when we feel our backs are covered, so much so, we can embrace our vulnerable giving us permission to feel every ache or pain and tear fully without the need for any plasters or balms. You see, the thing is, true freedom also means putting yourself out there fully bare totally in the nude. Because, when you feel safe, you know you can cry and your tears will be wiped.
You know you will always be seen soothed safe and secure.
Heal your fears and your safety net will be closer than you thought, it might even be sitting where you never thought to look because your gaze was always on the others the threats the road and all the what ifs!
