We live in an age where information is freely available and we mostly have our own minds and expressions. Children today are better equipped with a sense of self than previously because parental styles are changing towards a copartnership between the parent as children as opposed to leader/follower. Children have their own say too and they know they matter. Mostly. And then there’s the previous generation, a product of a different age, when a child’s sense of self was stifled at toddlerhood and childhood was spent appeasing their parents than having their childhood.
Because generations now more or less have a better and more secure understanding of them self and we live in an era where expression is appreciated and suppression shunned, there is a lesser need to stand out compete or even have a voice to be heard. The sense of self doesn’t feel threatened.
However, we all this, we find an array of ideas ideas thoughts and ways that are different or maybe more or less the same yet not all of us will find up to all of it. And that is okay. It is alright not to be on the same side all of the time. There is no need to be right or wrong at all. We are now in a state of accepting the others as we do us.
Those who resist this will want a side to stay on; the dichotomy is comfortable. They will want to stand out look different and feel special. That need for validation and my way is the only way that works will really push them. Take a look at social media? How many people are selling “reparenting” or “trauma healing” to “social media marketing tools”? Name it it’s there. You will have so many different people saying more or less the same thing with a few followed to millions. Those that resist this available information and how others also have a take on what they do, will find not being given the importance they feel they deserve as a reflection of either how well they esteem themselves the others or vice versa.
It is okay if someone else has something to say that you also know and say but whereas the other person has an audience you don’t. Perhaps it is because they don’t really hold on to a need for that audience and you do? Anything that bothers us has a little story of its own within. Look at the root.
In a way we are all right we are all valid. We are all in the know and exactly where we ought to be right now. That’s all.
