“We can be victims of our own consciousness and we can be heroes too of our own conscious intent” Mama Kee
When we are caught in a sort of depression or a state of inertia we don’t want to do anything outside of our comfort zone or venture out of that which is just about what is needs to level off the bills and earn a decent living. We will do the bare minimum, as long as that keeps us on our state of self imposed vacation of self. Very often when life throws us off balance rather than try again we stay out just in case we are thrown off guard again. Taking the chance is far too risky, so we start with all the following story telling types that keep us from the adventure of us:
1, oh that I can’t do because my muscles are too weak
2, if only I had the money for the right equipment I could take photos and pursue my ambitions of becoming a photographers
3, if so and so didn’t call me and ruin my mood I would have sat down to write my poetry
4, if only I lived somewhere less noisy I could feel inspired to think about my next movie
5, if only I didn’t have a spiritual awakening and feel so much I could function like the others and turn a blind eye to the detail
5, if only I wasn’t so single I could go out on holidays
6, if I had the money I could learn how to ride a horse
7, if I could afford child care I would use some time for a spa day for myself
8, if only he wasn’t so hairy maybe just maybe I could go out on a date with him
9, if only she wasn’t so darn honest I might consider being friends with her
Oh gosh if I continue we will be writing a whole book here. Can you think of anything that keeps you locked in a state right now? Write it down. And then sigh. Now think, what if you had all those what ifs sorted, what would you be doing right now? For me, it would probably be crafting artisan bread for my family while I tend to the stitch and cross artwork I am engaged in, and watch my little infant toddle about exploring. I am pretty much living this already. To go further what if I didn’t have to be a full time mama, what would I be doing right now? Riding a horse, learning how to swim, guiding parents and children, and doing a lot of craft work like making my own clay pots and pans; and nurture my vegetable garden. Okay, so even this I am almost there.
Is there anything you are putting off to another day when you might have a chunk of time available? Or when you are not working or not doing this or that? Maybe you might even be postponing a date with your self just to even figure out what your next adventure is. Whatever it is, think of all that you think stands in your way including another stinking relationship with a similar sort of guy like the rest of the guys that keep you put in your own stalemate – you see, by staying, it means you don’t have to dare change or try something different, maybe for fear of failure rejection and abandonment.
Do we have to have all the boxes ticked when it comes to assessment of life and how we present our goals visions and takings to life? Come on, if that’s the case then we are looking at a lot of procrastination. From I don’t have enough time, to I don’t have the money, to I am too old now, to my bones ache, to if only I was qualified, are all just one more excuse to remain in inertia. You might be in motion not within is total inertia. Tamas.
There is no adventure and in that new step comes a fresh perspective new ideas and fragrant jasmines and roses. Okay so I added to it the flowers because for me it’s like a secret garden within us waiting to be explored and so it is on the outside a hidden treasure. Your next aha moment might be around the corner, what are you waiting for? Christmas? Come on. Get yourself moving.
Motion is fundamental to growth. You don’t move, you stink. That’s that.
Anything that just sits there starts to rot. You don’t use your muscles they start to ache and pain. Muscle weakness. You don’t use your brain, you suddenly can’t learn anything new it takes you so long as you haven’t challenged the brain recently.
We all want to get settled. What’s that? Into what? Where did this idea ever rear it’s ugly head from?
Settled in your identity of you is also dangerous thinking- it produces a stagnated strangulated sense of self. You are stuck in this is who I am and so your subconscious mind will affirm that for you by attracting to you all that confirms that belief. So you could be other things if only you aren’t so bent upon labels and definitions.
I had a spiritual awakening – big deal. Get on with it and start living that. If your body hurts too much, then tune into your guidance, and walk. Get out of your comfort zone and tell your mind to get over it’s own limitation and it’s own fear of never being set free, by leaving its hood on you.
Dare to live a life your dream of starting in baby steps today.
What is your stalemate?
