For centuries eons and even before you and I came to be, our race as far as we know sought a higher meaning to life than just food water shelter and clothing. We were hunters and gatherers. The men went to hunt and war; the women stayed to nurture nourish and educate. Why did the seasons change? How did you explain natural calamities? The notion of a higher being came to be as did the various deities borne of their elemental strata. From the wind gods, the sun god, the planet gods, rain god, animal gods, to the god of learning gods of war to gods of fame and fortune, there was a higher being for just about anything imaginably out of our minds reach because what we could not fathom we gave it the god status. What we couldn’t see we called Spirit. How we perceived the world we called that engine the Mind.

The history of how our awareness of Spiritual came to be is one that needn’t be regurgitated for it is already within us; we hold that historical account in our blueprint. As our awareness of who we are grows so does that yearning to know the whole of us to include Spirit Mind and Body, Energy, Vibration, Sound.

Our individuate experience is unique to our blueprint. That is to say, how we get to know the story of us is peculiar to us. Getting to know the Self, unpeeling the layers of Self be that the spirit mind or body, is knowing and realising oneself. But to desire to self realise is a desire that’s borne of a natural cause within, as opposed to one rooted outside, because when we are told that to realise oneself is the purpose of life, we are merely listening to that proposal with the mind, unless and until, our whole paradigm of consciousness shifts and that purpose as the purpose resonates.

Otherwise, it’s like being told what to experience and what life should really look like including what perfect means. We accept it at face value and that then becomes something the mind has processed and taken as being the paradigm. This has the power to change the mind and through that only the mind will gain one more way of being without any real change of consciousness. For that to happen, it has to come naturally from within you. The change happens through a traumatic catastrophic and life altering event that will force you out of your comfort zones.

By practising mindfulness alone one cannot become mindful; but a puppet, yes. Why you feel the need to become mindful needs to be addressed. Why you are not mindful already needs to be addressed. We cannot treat a symptom and hope that the ailment itself will disappear. Both why the ailment and how it came to be need to be examined.

If you feel the need to enlist the assistance of an umbrella spiritual know it all, the question then is, why the need, and secondly, why you feel you cannot yourself access the spiritual know how. No doubt, the mind will create a lot of stories to corroborate the veracity of the choices you have made because the mind is forever searching for the familiar so that the brain can remain wired as it was originally so, when various belief systems on how things ought to be were implanted. For example, what’s your relationship with authority figures? Do you question anyone who gives you godly advice? Where did you first encounter advice? Infancy? Teenage years? This means any spiritual exercise without real awareness keeps you locked in that state of mind you were in when you first searched out a spiritual know how be that a book person or.

And then there is the genuine calling to spirit. This will shake your life. You will get onto the getting to know yourself wagon and never get off it. When things go topsy turvy you look at yourself alone. There is no space to name blame or shame others. You do not consider yourself superior or inferior. There are no delusions of grandeur. You do not feel like the chosen ones; you are just you. And knowing who you are is knowing spirit incarnate. Being authentic is all you know to be; and strive to live with absolute abandon freedom is the daily “grind”.

Spiritual pursuits can become very addictive and seduce you they will as long as you are feeding the mind as opposed to spirit which needs realising as opposed to feeding. It is self contained. The mind is not. It looks and looks and looks. It is so insecure it will carry on looking for something to keep its stronghold. We tell ourselves stories such as if we don’t have a spiritual practice our spirit won’t make it. How? To have a practice to begin with is one thing but to keep it there when you have reached the shore across to the other side is an unnecessary attachment to baggage that needs to be set down. Maybe, the practice is keeping your boat moving around in circles and your mind is making up more stories to convince you of the progress you have made and when the patterns keep repeating you can’t see that all you have done is to go round in circles.

Raise your consciousness; let the mind go; become aware of spirit; and inculcate not just a desire to call your shit out but call it what it is. Stop hiding behind the veil of illusion; know that the Self is just that – the Self. The mind can be conquered when the awareness to steadfastly know oneself is inculcated as opposed to conquer conquest the whole world. And only YOU can get there if you stop pandering to the mind asking you to keep gathering evidence to keep it in its current mindset.

Become the Alexander of your own self.

Blessings
