Yesterday we felt high up in the air floating around dancing with glee and abandon full of enthusiasm of the new idea that popped! Today, same idea stinks, the world is poop, we feel terrible and the mood is simply low key. What happened? Is it our hormones? Chemical imbalances perhaps? Circadian rhythm? What happens to us from day to day minute to minute where does all this e-motion and swinging come from? Is it normal?
I have had the honour to watch my bubba since he was born and have spent a total of two hours away from him, both out of need and circumstance. I have yet to witness an “off mood”. He is in the present moment day in day out. There is no day when I have seen a frown upon waking up or a lack of enthusiasm to play engage and be. He is always joyful. Yes he emotes but that is how he communicates. He might not be well and you will really need to be in tune to know this because again he is full of joy. He is consistent. I am anything but.
Is it our responsibilities? Work? Social interactions? What makes us moody? Even the best and most balanced of us will have days off the radar. We may not feel like engaging with the world or even get out of bed. Yet the little bubba always has room for more exploration and so much joy and playfulness.
Can we also hone in on that joy and playfulness and let it run parallel to our “grown up” chores and what else? I wonder.
Why are we so serious about so much goo? What is that work or that deadline really going to amount to in the end or that big bank balance we are so guarded about? Little bubba might be craving for attention but no you simply got to stir that chicken curry that is simmering or see to the bread that’s baking, can’t it wait?
What I have noticed is the spontaneity the little bubba has as do the fur babies. They are fully present, totally engaged with their environment, absolutely attuned to their caregivers, and have a tremendous malleability to adjust and accommodate to demands rules or whatever the caregivers “dictate” as the structure for them. They are just so pliable. Is it because they depend on us? I don’t think so. They are innately full of joy although the adherence to what’s acceptable in the family may come from a primal instinct to survive.
Assuming our survival is a given, where then is this spontaneous us? Why are we so darn scared to take the plunge and just dive in? What’s the worst that will happen on a planet that has your back covered by the whole universe? I suppose one has to really feel that they have their lighthouse on call. It is and will be but don’t take my word for it. Try to do something you have wanted to but dare not. And then see whether you are protected or not. Ermmmm and I don’t mean harming anyone you or breaking any laws!
My little bubba’s spirit teaches me to let my hair down take us to our wild side and explore the possibility of the other is.
What does your little bubba’s spirit say? What about the one inside of you? Yes both spirit and bubba?
