We doubted and some still do that Covid is real. Some say Covid is a hoax. Many did when the first wave hit us. As we moved into the second wave, we started to hear about people we know contracting Covid. What started as a mysterious far off unknown suddenly became very known to us. To those that were personally hit by this, and got very sick, that might have resulted in a tragedy, became very weary of the virus, it was anything but a hoax.
As we started to live with the restrictions, and, with some finding freedom within these maybe through inner work or by rebelling, the possibility of a messiah vaccine became apparent. This time it’s the vaccine that’s in the frontline of all the doubts and other theorem. The focus has moved away from the virus, perhaps as most of the world has accepted it, even it is a secret acceptance like that of our brothers and sisters in Tanzania.
The focus now is shall I take this vaccine? Why should I? Do I need it? Some might even say “my soul is telling me something” as a response to different stories that are commended for imaginative effort and creativity which is innate, perhaps not so much for their veracity. That same imagination used productively can bring out the artist in you or the story teller or even an author. You can use that same energy that stretches the imagination into your passions, unless yours is to rebut anything as real, borne out of a lack of knowledge. It just depends on where you are in your own theory of your own life.
When my little bubba was born, the neonatologist at the hospital asked whether we would like to receive the BCG jab there. I said well of course not even thinking about it. Well, I survived well and have thrived having been vaccinated as a child and again as an adult when I went travelling. Little bubba received all his vaccinations on time even during the pandemic. I didn’t have to be convinced. I have had to seek medical treatment in the past including a surgery to remove an almost burst appendix, a c section as my little one was in distress and his heart beat couldn’t be located, and a few diagnostic procedures. I have taken many over the counter medications over the years.
A couple of days ago I get that call we all know is coming – from the GP. Are you going to get the vaccine or not? Once again, without much thought, I said well of course although I am slightly nervous and also tingly. So I got the appointment all booked in.
What followed was a tirade of comments conversations and discussions about the nobility viability and longevity of the vaccine. Wow! It almost felt like I needed to have a vaccine just to absorb all of this information but not let it damage my own immune system’s response lest I lose my own way of relating translating and transmuting. Did my immune system suddenly fail or was it at risk of shutting down or was it already weak in how I took on board all of the sudden flood of information? Do I already have an existing immunity against an overload of conflicting information on Covid vaccine?
Since the pandemic started it has gripped us all in a different way. To me this has coincided with my own rebirthing with the birth of my child. I would have done things pretty much as I do now with it without Covid. The only thing that we will be changing is to introduce our nature reserve visits and drives. And that change will come naturally regardless of Covid.
For many, Covid times have meant more time in nature. For others having to work from home and be with the family all of the time has had its own challenges; for parents with home schooling and working from home this has outstretched their mental resources.
What is different with this virus? It is fast and it is global. What has enabled such a fast delivery of a vaccine? The MRNA technology. This is when a gene sequence of instruction is introduced into the body asking the body to create an immune response which it can mimic when it might really be under attack, as opposed to the conventional weaker form of the pathogen itself being injected for the body to create its own response which will depend on the immune system itself. This mRNA technology has been around before Covid. It’s not new but being tried on humans is.
I am not a nay sayer neither a sceptic and nor an expert medically. BUT. (There is an end and it’s at the end.)
There are those that oppose vaccinations whether it’s the Covid one or others. They won’t vaccinate their school going children. When this group rejects the efficacy of the Covid vaccine it’s a true reflection of their belief system. There is zero hypocrisy.
And then there is a group of those that will have received vaccinations and given them to their children, who will now not have the Covid vaccine. Their families may have had the vaccines already and most feel that the vulnerable taking the jab is fine which means they don’t discount the effect of Covid or that it is there.
The reasons given by this group include inter alia:
1, It will make no real time difference in my life right now as I will still need to wear a mask and still take all the precautions;
2, I don’t connect with Covid or the vaccine. I haven’t thought about this and hey if I am going to get it I will and I want to have a choice about whether to get the jab or not.
3, I think it’s going to end up like the flu some get it some don’t and we might need to take a jab yearly; so I won’t and will take the chances but I am very cautious anyway.
4, My soul is guiding me into saying no I don’t need the jab right now later maybe or maybe not.
5, I am totally against it; it’s too soon to tell and we don’t know what the secondary effects of such a vaccine would be.
6, I am unaffected either way; for me the question is whether I need it right now or can it wait. But then by me taking it means we are getting all the more closer to having a level of immunity of not a hundred percent. I trust the jab, have no issues with it at all. Just as I trust my cancer ridden grandma to be treated at a science based institution rather then letting her natural immune system gene the cancer off, I put my trust in the same science to get us through this too.
7, My children go to school; I want to get at least a level of immunity to either alleviate the effects of Covid if I get it or at least reduce the chances of getting it from my children as they might survive but I might not. There is no clear known criteria about how Covid gets you. But at least with the vaccine I will receive some biological support and psychological comfort.
8, I will wait a few more months because of my age.
9, No way I will not get it and won’t allow my children or family or parents to get it. Bill Gates didn’t get it! So why should I? (This by the way is incorrect – Mr Gates did in fact receive his first jab a few days ago as did his daughter.)
Which way is which?
Why the hesitancy and what is all the drama about taking the vaccine that more than 15 million people just in the UK have already taken? And even if that was not the case and you think but the virus is still out there and mutating so what’s the point we will still need to protect ourselves anyway.
Yes and yes. But if majority of people receive a certain level of immunity, surely we can bring the rate of infection down and death incidence? We could get vaccinated or not it’s a personal choice.
To get to the root of this “choice” is what matters. How we see ourselves in relation to others and the whole world matters. How we integrate our individuate sense of self with the whole matters.
What drives you to still wear the masks if there is no fear and you know you will ride it if it gets you?
Why do you seek help from a government that you cannot trust?
What happens is you get Covid you survive but someone you passed it on to doesn’t?
There is a lot of speculation about it all. Folks, the truth is, nobody knows anything. It’s all just a whole load of horse poop scattered all over our psyche. It is merely reflecting on how we are doing inside of us.
We don’t actually need to get our pants as twisted as we have. It’s really just as simple as do you want it or not? Now or later? Or maybe never? No stories.
Once you get out of the story you can get into what your stance is unequivocally.
Personally, I am not against vaccination or science based advance as long as I feel right inside of me about it.
The vaccination I feel is needed to combat the current level of spread so that we can get to a more manageable point in how fast this thing has taken the globe. Yes, we may have to live with this eventually and we may even have a yearly voluntary jab. But for now what is paramount is to try and get on top of the pandemic so that we can then breathe into a cure for this eventually. Or give our body a chance to live with it. You could get Covid and it’s not the end of the world. You will still carry on living; some are not so lucky. They may need a ventilator for a long time. My father has recently recovered from Covid. I have seen what it does first hand.
At the moment it’s all about damage control. The vaccine will do just that for now and who knows it might even work further on.
Whatever your stance even if it means you don’t want it now then later, what’s the need for later if you will get it anyway? Where is the procrastination coming from? Why the drama?
All this will soon be forgotten. This time will pass. But there will be lessons learnt and for some, very hard ones at that.
