Looks like a girl ghost! This was a friend’s response to a photo I sent her of a girl who stood at the entrance to our forecourt. And yes she certainly did look like a girl ghost which reminded me I dreamt of ghosts last night. And perhaps this little girl came to show me that her showing up at the forecourt twice and even entering the front garden is reflective of my own inner child coming in. Back to those freaky little ghost. They were so many and all over the house and I saw two familiar friends too.
The ghosts were all little like animated characters that looked like they were in disarray, desperately needed taming, and some were like balloons that I just burst and went away. There was no fear as such in the dream but rather a clear acceptance of them and in some instances simply chasing some of them off.
Here is what I feel it’s all about. I feel I am overindulging the past beyond it’s expiry date that’s not allowing me to remain engaged in the present and see things as they just are in the present as opposed to over therapising myself and seeing it all through my past.
I am not my past anymore I am my now and that’s all. When my bubba is resisting to sleep that’s nothing personal and it’s simply him being a toddler. It’s all part of his development and is also healthy. So my job is to remain calm centred and find ways of best managing my own response and be attuned to myself and bubba.
It’s like I keep dragging out the “ghosts” of the past instead of integrating them into my life’s experiences and move on an enriched and better version of me – whole me.
Past is Gone (as long as it’s made a part of you instead of being dismissed or forgotten).
The present is here and now waiting for you to arrive.
Does this sound familiar? A great many of times especially when we have now developed a sense of awareness of the wound we carry and have say healed within, when we continue to indulge in therapy that had outlived its expiry date we might just create a haunted house.
It’s very very telling about how we treat ourselves how much we want to hold on to the defective us. How much self therapy is too much? It takes us away from the here and now. The ghosts turn what’s a beautiful home of vibrant delight into a haunted house.
We become fragmented ghosts of our past and never learn to integrate our story form a coherent narrative and use that to enlighten and enrich our magnificent being.
We must remain in the here and now instead of reliving the past. Whilst it is important to integrate and make sense of our past child self and even a missed babyhood for example, we must know when it’s time to move on from the “therapy”. When we don’t we start to live with ghosts. Each time we are triggered with that we unleash another part of the past and this carries us away from the now into a time we cannot recover. You may even start to harbour a new resentment towards those who afflicted those wounds with our without intent.
Most parents want the best for their children and it’s a process. It’s a learning curve. Daily we are faced with new challenges which we can turn into opportunities for growth. We can learn how to communicate authentically and respect our children first as models for them instead of demand it of them without any regard to them as persons in their own right.
Yes please attend to your own well-being but keep an eye on those parts that are now integrated that were previously lost for being wounded; they might reappear as ghosts of you keep chanting incantations from your little books of spells that are now spilling off your shelves taking over what was meant to be the space and playroom of your bubba to now your therapy room!
Let’s get back to Earth and now bring the heaven down so we can fully LIVE here and now!!!
